“Don’t say anything online that you wouldn’t want plastered on a billboard with your face on it.”
I came across this AMAZING quote while I was looking for articles about Gary Vaynerchuk’s best seller book “Crush it!” (I did not buy the book yet).
It makes sense right? Like why would you post anything that you cannot say in reality? Or discuss it with strangers? This quote can make you review all your old posts as a blogger. (Even myself >.< )
When I was first introduced to blogging by a dear fellow blogger of mine, I never thought that blogging was actually a whole world by itself, with its rules and community!
I know about blogging since it started, but it did not tackle my mind. I was introduced again to blogging after watching the amazing movie “Julie and Julia” when a young woman turns her passion into a dream come true! By following the thing she loves, putting herself into a challenge and of course, blogging about it!
In his book “Crush it!” , Gary emphasizes on the great content, by staying true to yourself and connected to your audience through using the social media tools. If you watched the movie, Julie did not actually use social media tools to market her blog idea, however, she was able to produce an amazing content that led her blog to turn into a book, and later into the movie I`m talking about now!
In a very nice article by cliff notes and watching Gary’s videos I came to know the main points in Gary’s book, he apparently have 3 rules:
Love your family, work super hard, and live your passion
Do not write what you write or do what you do for money, because you’ll eventually get bored and tired, but if there was a motivation, by a thing you love, you will always be creative in how you deliver your word, and make your voice heard.
The other thing is, some people use social media in an amazing way, but without a balanced content (I don’t want to say horrible) but they end up extremely famous for a short period of time, for the wrong reasons, and eventually, no one hears about them anymore.
If you think your content is worthy (it will be worthy if you are just passionate about it), then find a way to talk about it, blog about it, and use the correct social media methods to allow others hear about it.
Some people already know their passion, others are just looking for it, some do not even know that they should have a passion. But eventually, that is what makes us survive, and that is why we wake up every morning =)
This is a very nice video that I found of Gary, it is called “A simple message from me to you”
It will absolutely make you feel good about yourself, what you write, what you do, no matter how small your business is, how low the number of your followers are, it is enough for you to keep doing what you do in the same manner as a famous celebrity!
Did you notice how he allowed the man to come in while recording his video? That’s how real we should get! No faking. Would you do that if you were a famous celebrity and recording a video? I know that I wouldn’t!
Keep Crushing it!
