It’s on! RunQ8 2012

Today I got an email from RunQ8 announcing another running event this year! It will be on  January 21th , 2012

“RunQ8 is a 10K run organized by Fawzia Sultan Rehabilitation Institute (FSRI) and Agility. An annual event, the focus of the race is to raise public awareness regarding health issues affecting our community, to support medical institutions, and to encourage healthy living in our society.

Each year RunQ8 will adopt a different health issue and work towards raising awareness in the Kuwaiti society. The first RunQ8 race took place on the 6th of November 2010 under the patronage of the Minister of Health, Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer. In 2010, RunQ8 supported Kuwait University’s Community Eye Health Program “Vision 2020″ in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB).”

Unfortunately, I couldn’t go to the 2010 run, but this year I`m intending to do it! It gives me something to work out for. This somehow makes me more excited to exercise and to RUN!!! Energy booster!

Coffee = no depression

I read this article today on BBC that Coffee may prevent from depression, especially for women. “Women who drink two or more cups of coffee a day are less likely to get depressed, research suggests.It is not clear why it might have this effect, but the authors believe caffeine in coffee may alter the brain’s chemistry. Decaffeinated coffee did not have the same effect.BBC

I`m not a coffee person, and I don’t intend to be, I just don’t want the happiness of my day to depend on a drink. I always look at the coffee mugs & the lovely coffee thermoses at the coffee shops and get jealous! I want one but I know I wont use it =(

So, Coffee people…have a delightful depression free day =D

What does it take for a baby to cry?

Meet Maya, whose healthy birth is the result of stronger health systems. Strengthening health systems is at the center of the World Bank’s global strategy for health, nutrition, and population. We don’t focus only on one disease or condition, we look at health as a whole — what is preventing people from being healthy, how we can change this, and what impact it will have on development.

How much is too much? Find a balanced life

“My space, hi5, youtube, facebook, twitter, google….then what? Sometimes I feel like I should throw my phone & laptop away and live in peace. Then I doubt my ability to live without them. Or maybe I should take a break. But suddenly I will get behind. So until when? Sometimes I fear that the world with have another big bang of “too much information” I can’t even call it information, it is to shallow to be information. Reading too much books wouldn’t hurt as much as reading too many statuses or tweets. I love blogging, but can’t keep up with other fellow blogs. I miss my books, my boring blue days. I miss having nothing to do. I miss when the internet was a luxury not a necessity. I even miss the sound of the cable connection. I need to exercise but I have no time. I need to eat healthy but I can’t do it around all this junk. So what’s next? I wonder what the younger generations will face in the upcoming years. Maybe I should stop babbling and find a way to balance my life.”

That was gloomy me yesterday. I didn’t publish it because it was so pessimistic. But today, I found this great Article in Dr. Oz’s blog I thought it would be nice if I share it, as it has basically everything we need to get through this super busy life.
